The Ná Rigan Srotteg,  or as it is refered to by foreignerns, the Kingdom of Srotte  is the largest of the Three Kingdoms and the strongest naval power in the southern Esuin Sea.  Ancient and twisted trees cover much of the rocky landcape of the kingdom  which is crisscrossed by swift flowing rivers.  The people of Srotte are largely of eshan origin, having migrated to the island nearly fifteen hundred years ago,  but  they differ greatly from their northern relatives both in language and in many cultural attitudes. The long centuries upon the island, coupled with substantial influences from the Rogata of the east have altered many of the political and cultural institutions to the point that they are nearly unrecognizable. The most notable of these altered traditions is, of course, the instiution of a monarchical government.

For the past several decaded, Srotte has moved away from being an inward looking nation and become an emerging power in the Esuin Sea. It participated in the last Trade War, supplying privateers to several of the warring powers and reaping the benefits of plunder as well as establishing its own trade routes with its northern neighbors. Shipments of whale oil, fish, and kelp greatly aided the fledgling Esuin League and relations between the two nations remain cordial. The other Maritime Republics remain somewhat suspicious of the growing power of Srotte and the Island's other kingdoms are worried about how this new internationalism will effect the deliate balence of power.

On the Nature of the Ná Rig

The Ná Rig of Srotte is somewhat unusual is his powers; he is not a great land holder as so many foreign kings are, he is not traditionally viewed as possessing divine sanction or blessing, nor is he greatly concerned with military matters. Instead, the Ná Rig is a kind of high magistrate and diplomat whose concerns largely deal with mainting peace, good order, and ensuring prosperity. With the expansion of overseas trade in the recent years, the power of the Ná Rig has grown to match, which has led to the development of a slightly more centralized government than was traditionally in place. The current king, Alúwos III, intends to continue this expansion of trade for he sees it as necessary to maintainign the well being of his people.
